John Gordon Martin

John Gordon Martin, 71, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, May 4, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on February 4, 1935 in Hahira, he was the son of the late Collis Remer and Mary Lucille Coppage Martin. Mr. Martin was retired from the United States Air Force and was a member of Forrest Park Church of Christ.

Survivors are his wife, Nell Martin of Valdosta; son and daughter in law, Tim and Lisa Martin of Franklin, Tennessee; daughter, Susan Martin of St. Petersburg, Florida; three grandchildren, J.T. Martin, Meredith Martin, Clayton Martin; brothers and sisters in law, James and Vivian Martin of Valdosta, Raymond and Oveita Martin of Fernandina Beach, Florida; sister and brother in law, Juanita and Royce Wiggins of Valdosta; father in law, Bruce Barwick, Sr., of Valdosta. His stepmother, Lena Martin and a sister, Louise Fisher, preceded Mr. Martin in death.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Ray Joyner and Mr. Jason Roberts will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
