John D. Hancock

John D Hancock, 83, of Brooks County passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 surrounded by his family. Mr. Hancock was born in Hahira, GA on May 20, 1936, to the late Thomas Foster Hancock and Mildred Inez Fender Hancock. He was raised in Berrian County and Brooks County. Mr. Hancock was a truck driver by trade and lived numerous places including, Nashville, TN, Oklahoma, and Texas. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He instilled in his children his love of the outdoors, reading books, music, and watching jet contrails.

Mr. Hancock is survived by three daughters and two son-in-laws and one son and daughter-in-law. Vicki Hancock Musser of Tampa, FL, Chris (Patty) Hancock of Morven, GA, Tina (Dennis) Tucker of Dixie, GA and Suzi (Johnny) Sirmans of Valdosta, GA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Christy (Chris) Dinkins of Macon, GA, Jordan (Hannah) Hancock of Valdosta, GA, Justin (Ashley) Sanders of Lake Park, GA, Noah Sirmans & his fiancée Sasha Watson of Valdosta, GA, Joseph (Rebekah) Hancock of Smyrna, GA, Alicia (Jeremy) Bellflower of Valdosta, GA, Miranda (Julian) Salermo of Tampa, FL, Sarah Musser of Tampa, FL and Zach Sirmans & his fiancé Morgan McKinnon of Valdosta, GA. He also is survived by 13 great grandchildren. Survivors also include nieces and nephews, Robin (Jerry) Sutton of Nashville, GA, Tom (Tracy) Hancock of Nashville, GA, Chad (Terri) Noles, Thad Noles, and Alan (Angel) Noles, all of Hope Mills, NC. He is preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Jim Noles, one nephew Lewis Hancock, and son-in-law Mark Musser.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1pm-2pm at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at ww.mclanecares.com Carson McLane Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
