John Charles Fleming

John Charles Fleming, (RET. MSgt, USAF) 65, of Hahira died Thursday, September 17, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born on August 12, 1955 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late William E. and Theonas Kettl Fleming and had lived in Hahira for many years. John is a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, retired Master Sergeant with the United States Air Force and also worked at SAFT. He was an avid woodworker. He appeared on the television show “How It Is Made” demonstrating the building of airplanes. John loved to collect trains, cruising and traveling. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan.
Survivors include his wife, Gail Folsom Fleming of Hahira; two daughters and a son in law, Christi and Toby Mitchell of Hahira, Jennifer Fleming of Jacksonville, FL; his granddaughter, Haley Mitchell of Hahira; his brother, Father Joe Fleming; his sister, Marie Korman both of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; his mother in law, Peggy S. Folsom of Valdosta; his father in law, Raymond Folsom of Hahira; sister in law and brother in law, Carol and Greg Stracener of Hahira; his brother in law and his partner, Kevin Folsom and Louis Weimer of Jacksonville, FL.
Memorial mass will be held at 11am, Monday, September 28, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Joe Fleming and Father Brian LaBurt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or to the Knights of Columbus, 800 Gornto Road, Valdosta, GA 31602.
