Joan Francis

Joan Francis, 75, of Valdosta, went home to be with God on Monday, January 19, 2015, after a brief illness.

She was born September 25, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Thomas D. and Catherine E. Krumenacker Doran. Joan loved her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, and was very loved by her family. She was a strong, very giving person who loved doing for others. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, her dogs and collecting Thomas Kinkade.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Mary Francis of Valdosta; two daughters and one son-in-law, Dawn Marro of Valdosta, and Karen and Tony Agnese of Hicksville, NY; seven grandchildren, Matthew and wife Fayris Francis, Ashley Francis and Justin Francis, all of Valdosta, Christopher and wife Sydney Marro of Hahira, Andrew Marro of Valdosta, Anthony Agnese and Melissa Agnese, both of Hicksville, NY; one great-granddaughter, Grey Marro of Hahira; one brother, Kevin and wife Carol Doran of Sarasota, FL; and one sister, Carolyn Bufy of Coram, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Francis on February 21, 2006.

Joan's family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2015, at the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with Father Brian LaBurt officiating.
