Joan Bennett Russell

Joan Bennett Russell, 82, of Valdosta passed away Monday, April 25, 2022 at Fellowship Home. She was born on June 21, 1939 in Cook County, GA to the late Robert and Lena George Bennett. Mrs. Russell was retired from South GA Medical Center and a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was very active in her church, a member of the Eastern Star and a Pink Lady at SGMC. In her earlier years Joan traveled with her husband who was in the United States Air Force and worked a job at each assignment.
She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Pamela and George Poirier of Lake Park and Teresa and John Lohr of Valdosta, grandchildren, Matthew Poirier (Elizabeth) of Spartanburg, SC and Christopher Lohr (Michelle) of Wilmington, NC, great grandsons, Hudson Poirier and Liam Lohr, brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Shirley Bennett of Quitman and numerous nieces. Mrs. Russell is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bobby Charles Russell, brothers and sister-in-law, Willie D. and Jeannie Bennett of Berlin and Bernice Bennett of Adel and nephew, Timothy Bennett of Moultrie.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 at two p. m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Bob Willis will officiate. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity. The family wishes to thank Hospice of South Georgia and Fellowship Home for their kindness and care of Mrs. Russell.
