Joan Barbara Heim

JOAN BARBARA HEIM, 80, of Valdosta, passed away Monday, November 30, 2009, at South Georgia Medical Center.

She was born December 4, 1928 in Douglaston, Long Island, NY, a daughter of the late Stanley H. and Rose Sullivan Bass. Mrs. Heim moved to Valdosta from the Atlanta area twenty years ago to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren, and had been employed as a clerk at Fads 'N Fashions. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Tampas and husband Nicky; two granddaughters, Brittany Rhoads and her husband Michael, and Lauren Tampas; a great-grandson, Nicholas Rhoads, all of Valdosta; one sister, Nancy Crider of Marietta; a nephew and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Francis Heim, and a brother, Bob Bass.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. Heim at 12:10 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Church, with Rev. Dan O'Connell officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Arlington Cemetery, Atlanta. Her family will receive friends Friday at the Church from 11:30 a.m. until the service time.
