Jimmy Lynn Martin

Jimmy Lynn Martin, 63, of Valdosta, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home after a long battle with throat and lung cancer.

He was born December 1, 1949 in Homerville, a son of the late Boyd Martin and the late Jeannette Steedley Martin Griffin. Jimmy was a tractor mechanic with People's Tractor Co. for many years. He loved to fish, and could "spin a good tale". He also enjoyed music and dancing. Jimmy had a good heart, and liked to help others.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jamey Martin Duckworth and LeAnn of Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Martin Boatwright and Don of Valdosta; two grandsons, Kyle Braswell and Will Duckworth; three brothers, Johnny Martin and wife Kim of Valdosta, Jack Chauncey of Valdosta, and Timmy Martin of Alma; three sisters, Dorothy Martin Ballard and husband Charles of Valdosta, Marie Chauncey Craig and husband Ray of Valdosta, and Linda McClain of Stockbridge; and extended family, including Maxine Fletcher Martin of Valdosta, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Lamar Griffin.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2012, at Hickory Grove Cemetery with Rev. Maxine Martin officiating.
