Jewell Howell Arnold

Jewell Howell Arnold, 83, of Valdosta died Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 23, 1924 in Irwin County to the late Oscar Jackson and Minnie Collins Howell and had lived in this area for many years. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ where she was active in the Ladies Bible Class and the flower ministry to local nursing homes.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Carolyn and David Roddey of Hahira, her son and daughter in law, Cleve and Dee Arnold of Valdosta, grandchildren and their spouses, David IV and Becky Roddey, John and Toni Roddey and Emily Arnold, great grandchildren, Elizabeth Roddey, Cody Roddey and Cheyenne Roddey all of Valdosta, five sisters and two brothers in law, Bertha Roberts of Ocilla, Ruby Roberts of Clinton, TN., Ella Wetherington of Valdosta, Sally Mae and Tom Rowell of Fitzgerald and Florence and Roy Touchton of Jacksonville, Fla., sisters in law and brothers in law, Sara Howell of Ocilla, Evelyn Dasher, Loyce and Ruby Arnold and Durward Arnold all of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. C. Arnold, Jr. who died on September 15, 2007, four brothers, Claude Howell, Jesse Howell, Grady Howell and Dan Howell and three sisters, Lilly Stripling, Marguerite Hughes and Mary Frances Howell.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, October 6, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. John Klimko and Mr. J. C. McMullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
