Jerry Eston Whiddon

Jerry Eston Whiddon, 62, of Valdosta died suddenly on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was born on January 7, 1952 in Valdosta to the late E.J. and Mary Elizabeth Kirby Whiddon. Jerry was employed with Utility Service Inc. as a Special Projects Technician and was known as the "go-to" guy or the "tech master" when all else failed. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed being involved in the lives of his family, his co-workers, and the many, many close friends that had the pleasure and privilege of knowing Jerry. He was a member of the Christian Science Society of Valdosta for 35 years. Jerry will always be remembered for his contagious laugh and constant smile and his love for God and family that was expressed daily in his deeds, actions, and words.

Survivors include the love of his life, his best friend and his wife of 42 years, Patty Whiddon of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Candee Whiddon Akins and Eli Akins of Atlanta; a son, Taylor Eston Whiddon of Valdosta; a daughter, Kristen Whiddon of Atlanta; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Judy Whiddon of Lake Park; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Phillip Seymour of Valdosta and Janet and David Dean of Lake Park; a brother and his partner Jerald Whiddon and Shirley Foster of Hoschton, Georgia; four brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Teri Alderman of Fitzgerald, Georgia, Tim and Chris Alderman of Cartersville, Georgia, Jerry and Kim Alderman of Valdosta and Ricky and Melissa Alderman of Naylor; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Whiddon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Laverne Alderman; grandparents, Ira and Emma Whiddon and Marvin and Elma Kirby.

Services for Jerry Eston Whiddon will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
