Jeanne Davis Rountree

Jeanne Davis Rountree, 95, of Valdosta, died on March 15, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness. She was born on October 12, 1918 in Fayetteville, Georgia to the late Hill Parks Redwine and Lucy Mariah Reagan Redwine and has been a resident of Valdosta since 1950. Her zest for living life to the fullest and her outgoing personality were infectious. She graduated from Agnes Scott College with a Bachelors degree in English. She was both a strong supporter and active participant in many local activities which include, but are not limited to, the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, the Mystery Ball at the Valdosta Country Club, Annette Howell Turner Art Center, and various functions with her Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church, just to name a few. She also loved to go to Fernandina Beach and spent many happy times with family and friends there.

Survivors include her grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Chuck Laslie of Quincy, Florida, Parks and Ashley Bennett of Washington D.C., and Jason and K.C. Bennett of Valdosta; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Laslie and Ansley Bennett; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter Hunter, Felton Davis and Wilbur Rountree and her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Jack Bennett.

Services for Jeanne Davis Rountree will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Moon officiating. A private family committal will take place at a later date in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
