Jean Williams Metcalf, 87, of Valdosta died Monday, October 7, 2019 at her home. She was born in Brooks County on June 6, 1932 to the late Carey H. and Inez Cobb Williams and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Metcalf was a member of the First United Methodist Church and retired from the Lowndes County Clerk of Court office after forty two years of service. Mrs. Metcalf was a graduate of Valdosta High School where she played basketball, loved the beach and she and her husband were longtime members of the Elks Lodge.
Survivors include two daughters, Angie Warren and Terri Schunhoff both of Valdosta; her grandchildren, Clint (Heather) Warren, Caitlyn Schunhoff, Chesley Schunhoff; great grandchildren, Emma Grace Warren, Adam Matthew Warren, Kara Leigh Warren, Sara Beth Warren; her special caregiver for the past three years, Margaret McCoy and two special friends, John Baggett and Dennis Schunhoff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Metcalf.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
