Jane Marie Kennon Caudle

Jane Marie Kennon Caudle, 86, passed away on September 4, 2011, at Langdale Hospice House, following an extended illness.

Jane was born on November 16, 1924, in Quitman, to the late Lois Boone Kennon and the late Oscar Lewis Kennon. The family moved to Valdosta early in her life and she went on to graduate from Valdosta High School in 1942, and from Huntington College, Montgomery, Alabama in 1946. During her senior year at Huntington, she married the late Samuel Boyd Caudle, Jr. They moved to Lake City, Florida, where she started her teaching career. She later continued teaching in the Valdosta City Schools until she retired.

Jane was active in her church, First United Methodist Church and the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class, the Lowndes County Historical Society and the Retired Teachers Association. She spent her final years at Langdale Place where she enjoyed her many friends.

Jane is survived by her daughters, Juana Caudle Haroldson of Martinez, Lori Caudle Crosby and son-in- law, Randy Crosby of Valdosta; grandchildren, Mandi Haroldson, Jason and Casie Crosby, and Justin Crosby; a sister-in-law, Gloria Caudle of Lake Seminole, Florida; cousins, Billie Sims of Valdosta and Mike Kennon (Marie) of Lake City, Florida and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, O.L. and Lois Kennon, her husband, Samuel Boyd Caudle, Jr. and a sister, Anne Kennon Gornto.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Dr. Bob Moon and Reverend Charlie Scarborough will officiate. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the McLane Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, P.O.
