James Williams, Sr., 71, of Valdosta, died at his residence on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, following a lengthy illness. He was born on December 30, 1949, in Miami, Florida to the late Dennis Sr., and Izetta Major Williams. Mr. Williams was a retired supervisor with Miami-Dade County in the solid waste division. Mr. Williams and his wife, Cynthia, relocated to the Valdosta area upon their retirements and has been a member of the Gracepoint Church. He exhibited his love for his family by being a hard worker and great provider. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cynthia Jones Williams of Valdosta, his two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Jr., and Kawanna Williams of Villa Rica, Georgia, and Jeffrey Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; his grandchildren, Antonio Hunter, Malcolm Hurley, Daphanne and Martravis Mallory, Shanice Hunter, Devin Stafford, Michael Austin, Javonne Paige, Charlie Paige, James Williams III, Jamesha Williams, and Trinity Williams; great-grandchildren, Mia Mallory, Nicole Austin, Amir Austin, Mariah Hurley, Troyanah Lovett, and Ta’Sivah Lovett. He is also survived by his siblings, Gloria Allen, Rueben Williams, Carl Williams, Ireatha and Edward Dawkins, George Williams, Emma Williams, Dennis Williams III, Estella and Don Sheppard, Anthony Williams, Anita Williams, and Yvonne Williams, as well as his numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by three daughters, Delilah Paige, Nicky Williams, and Daffanie Williams; two grandchildren, Jesiah Williams, and T.J. Ryals, and his great-grandchild, Isaiah Mallory. Two siblings also precede Mr. Williams, Joyce Speed and Willie Williams.
