James Roger Cunningham, Sr.

James Roger Cunningham, Sr., 86, of 4443 Plantation Crest Road, Valdosta, Georgia, passed on, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 11:09 p.m. at his son's residence in Lowndes County. Funeral services will be held at Morningside Baptist Church on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Wayne Robertson, The Rev. Kenneth Lassiter and The Rev. Kevin Edmonds will officiate. Interment will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Cunningham was born on October 13, 1929 in Ellenton, Florida to Walter Leon Cunningham and Pearl Lewis Cunningham. He and Rheta Aboud Cunningham were married April 17, 1953 and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. Roger was founder and president of Cee-Bee Produce Inc. since 1974 and retired in 1995. He was a long time resident of Belle Glade and Dunnellon, Florida and was recently residing in Valdosta. Roger was a member of the First Baptist Church of Belle Glade, Florida since his childhood. He recently attended Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his wife, Rheta Cunningham; son, James Roger Cunningham, Jr. (Misty) of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Cynthia Denise Lassiter (Kenneth) of Woodstock, GA; son, George Michael Cunningham (Jill) of Hahira, GA; son Edward Dwayne Cunningham (Melissa) of Maryville, TN; brother, W. L. Cunningham (Jackie) of Stuart, FL; sisters, Elizabeth Matlock, of Hutchison, KS; Mellie Weymouth of Bakersfield, CA; 16 grandchildren; Jenifer Harper (Arnie), Summer Neubert-Schloff (Kevin), Ashton Posada (Humberto), Charity Edmonds (Kevin), April Vazquez (Alex), Faith Gravesande (Ryan), Chris Cunningham, Jason Cunningham (Melissa), Ashley Bielling (Zeb), Courtney Holden (Dusty), Whitney Brown (Matt), Chad Cunningham (Emily), Roger Cunningham III (Sarah), Michael Cunningham, Brooks Cunningham, Garrett Cunningham; 29 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Leon Cunningham and Pearl Lewis Cunningham and brother, Dalton Lewis Cunningham.
