James Leslie (Les) Watson, 88, of Valdosta died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Langdale Hospice House after a brief illness. He was born on October 30, 1921 in Tifton to the late Samuel Guy and Ina McMurray Watson and had lived in Valdosta for the past thirty two years. Mr. Watson was a member of the First United Methodist Church and employed with Country Cobbler Shoes for more than thirty years. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II as a radar operator in England. Mr. Watson was devoted to his career and a member of the Lions Club. He loved baseball and was an avid Auburn Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Dean Watson of Valdosta, his daughter, Belinda Leslie Fallon of Valdosta, his son and daughter in law, Stephen Andrew and Gladys Watson of Jacksonville, Fla., three grandsons, Ronald Stephen Kruse, Brian Elliott Watson and his wife, Meredith Watson, Jason Charles Watson and his wife, Allison Watson, three great grandchildren, Kayla Marie Kruse, Kara Elizabeth Kruse, and Brayden Walter Kruse, niece, Nancy Schlich and nephew, Frederick Schlich both of Alabama. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Pierce Watson, Rucker Watson, Selvin Watson and Willliam F. Watson and four sisters, Alma Watson, Janie Hamlet, Gussie Payne and Sally Gibson.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 17, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Moon officiating. Graveside services will be held at 4pm CST at the Notasulga City Cemetery in Notasulga, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10am until service time at the funeral home.
