James (Jimmy) Lee Lightsey

James (Jimmy) Lee Lightsey, 73, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at his residence. He was born on April 23, 1935 in Lanier County to the late Carroll and Lona Lightsey. Mr. Lightsey was a retired engineer with the Merchant Marines and served in the United States Navy.

He is survived by one son and daughter in law, James Ellis and Emily Lightsey of Ocilla, one daughter, Katrina Lightsey of Alaska, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one brother, Milton Smith Jr. and his wife, Sue of Virginia, Uncles, Raymond Lightsey of Valdosta, McDaniel Hurst, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN, Aunt, Mollie Pate of Panama City, FL. Mr. Lightsey is preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Carrie Castleberry, three Uncles, Harmon Hurst, William E. Hurst and Leroy Hurst.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, January 24, 2009 at eleven a. m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Reverend Bob Willis officiating. Burial will follow.
