James (Jimmy) Herndon Brady

September 1, 1940 — October 3, 2019

James (Jimmy) Herndon Brady, 79 of Lake Park, died on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Fellowship Home in Brooks County. Born on September 1, 1940, in Valdosta, he was a son of the late Holly LeRoy Brady and Kathryn Shaw Brady. In the late 1950’s he played football for the Valdosta Wildcats under Wright Bazemore. Mr. Brady was an installer for AT&T. A veteran, he had served with the United States Army. A former member of Hahira United Methodist Church, he had many hobbies, including candle making, photography, bee keeping, and livestock. A loving father and grandfather, family was important to Mr. Brady, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors are his daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Joey Herring of Lake Park. Marti and Jerry Redding of Hahira; grandchildren, Matt Jones, Sam Herring, Joley Herring, Landon (Megan) Herring, Josh Redding, Jamie and Kaysie Redding, Jeremy Redding, Holly and Jimmy Lattin, Jason Redding; great grandchildren, Trent Redding, Ansley Redding, Kailey Brooks, Gabby Lattin, Brodie Lattin, Staton Redding, Collin Redding, Raleigh Redding, Delilah Lattin, Bentley Redding, Kynsleigh Redding, Cameron Miley, Luke Herring; his sister, Charlene Brady of McDonough, a cousin, Fred Lynn of Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Brady.

Funeral services for Mr. Brady will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Bob Willis will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Bethany Hospice of Hospice of South Georgia.
