James F. (Jim) Roberts

James F. (Jim) Roberts, 82, of Niceville, Florida died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Niceville, Florida. He was born on July 17, 1927 in Tampa, Florida to the late Clyde Edwin Roberts, Sr. and Lena Mae Fletcher Roberts. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U. S. Marine Corps. After discharge he was employed by the Southern Bell Telephone Company while attending the University of Miami. Jim was employed in Gainesville, Florida as a Certified Medical Service Representative for the A.H. Robins Pharmaceutical Company until he retired in 1990. They moved to Niceville in 1992 to enjoy retirement. His family ties in Lowndes County was through his mother and include the McLeod, Dasher, Wisenbaker, Copeland and Howell families. He was the nephew of the late Juaniece and H. C. Sterling of the Dasher Community.

Survivors include his three daughters, Nancy and Tom Tackett of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, Robin Nunnally of Destin, Fla. and Jeanne and David Parker of Memphis, TN., six grandchildren, Crystal Simpson and her husband, Chris, Angie Tackett, Melissa and Jessica Nunnally, Fletcher and Chad Parker and two great granddaughters, McKenna and Addison Simpson, special friend, Mary Grace Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Vargo Roberts, a brother, Edwin Roberts and a sister, LeMae Roberts.

Graveside services will be held at 10am, Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Sunset Hill Cemetery with Mr. Schuyler Hardin and Mr. Robert McLeod officiating.
