James Edward Johns

October 21, 1946 — March 25, 2012

James Edward "Red" Johns, 65, of Valdosta died on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Brantley County Georgia on October 21, 1946 to the late Wesley Estelle Johns and Mollie Jane Crews Johns. He was retired from the United States Navy and served during Desert Storm. He was of the Southern Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Johns of Show Low, Arizona; two daughters and sons-in-law, Serena Renee and Scott Dickson and Meredith Rose and Sean Nolan; mother of his children, Ann Knight; grandchildren, Anieyssa, Bardin, Weston, and Kinnon Dickson and Liliana and Jack Nolan all of Valdosta; his mother, Mollie Jane Johns of Hoboken, Georgia; step-children and their spouses, Connie and Kenneth Watson of Hinesville, Georgia, Vanessa and Don Phillips of Virginia, James Pruitt, Marybeth Pruitt and Lynn Pruitt all of Salem, Virginia, Dodi and Kevin Alderman of West Virginia, Ethan Holi of Hawaii; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Janice Louella and Marvin Alford of Hoboken; two brothers and sister-in-law, Charles (Cotton) and Pam Johns of Hoboken and Joey Calvin Johns also of Hoboken; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Chuck Waldron of Waycross; close friends, Scott Manka, Deb and daughter, Britney, and Patti and Alex Delagarza; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Ann Rosa Johns and a brother, Jessie Lee Johns.

A memorial service for Red Johns will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 30 2012 at the Hoboken Baptist Church in Hoboken, Georgia with Rev. Tim Rowell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society South Atlantic Division 323 Pine Ave. Ste. 100 Albany, Georgia 31701.
