James Alton Lawson

December 18, 1926 — November 13, 2005

James Alton Lawson, 78 of Valdosta, died on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at his residence. Born on December 18, 1926 in Berrien County, he was the son of the late Tophy and Rosagene Blanche Daughtery Lawson. He was a commercial truck driver for 52 years. Mr. Lawson was a veteran in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are one son, James Vernon Lawson of Valdosta; five daughters, Nancy Smith of Orlando, FL, Wanda Miley of Quitman, Lisa Calbert of Valdosta, Darlene Morgan of Orlando, Sonja Watson of Lakeland; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Lavaughn & Nell Bennett of Valdosta;sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Sam Smith of Thomasville; stepchildren, Diane Morris of Missouri, Travis Taylor of Virginia Beach, VA, Sandra Coody of Valdosta and Elaine Stone of Nashville.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2005 at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery Pastor Aaron Kight officiating.
