Jackie Laverne Devane

Jackie Laverne DeVane, 67, of Valdosta, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 following a brief illness. She was born on July 15, 1953 in Thomasville, GA to Hazel Warren Harper and the late Howard Dumas. She worked as a bus driver for Lowndes County Schools and was a devout Christian and member of Harvest Church of God. She loved playing piano and doing crafts. Mrs. DeVane loved her family and her dogs.
Mrs. DeVane is survived by her sons, Larry John DeVane (Melissa), Timothy DeVane (Crystal), Shanon DeVane (Kendra); sisters, Linda Brown (Brad), Connie Sirmans (Floyd); brother, Lloyd Dumas (Joy); her step brothers, Keith Garcia, Mark Garcia, Howard Dumas; her mother Hazel Harper; her stepmother Charlotte Dumas; her grandchildren, Levi DeVane, Elijah Riddle, Logan Harrison, Kelsey DeVane, Nickolas DeVane, Elizabeth Brantley, Sara Jane Coombs, Grayson DeVane, and Bert DeVane; her great granddaughter Kylee DeVane; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister in law, Jean DeVane. Mrs. DeVane was preceded in death by her husband, Larry DeVane, her father Howard Dumas, and stepfather John Harper.
A funeral service for Mrs. DeVane will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Brother Jack Justice officiating. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery.
