Jack Routsong

May 22, 1937 — September 9, 2021

Jack Leroy Routsong passed away on Sept 9th, 2021 at the Thomasville, Georgia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 84 years old. His family and friends will mourn his loss. However, they will take comfort in knowing that his body is now healthy and strong in Heaven. Jack was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1937 and lived there for 40 years. In 1977, he bravely moved with his wife (Rose Routsong) and two children (Suzanne and Scott) to Bradenton, Florida as a means to provide a better life for them. Never one to shy away from hard work and sacrifice, Jack took all manner of jobs until he was able to utilize his skills at L3/Lockheed Martin. He worked there for over 35 years. Though he never graduated from high school, many of Jack’s colleagues at L3/Lockheed Martin considered him one of the smartest men they knew. When Jack and Rose were both fully retired, they made plans to sell their home in Myakka City, Florida and move to Valdosta, Georgia to spend more time with their son and his family. They purchased a small farm and made plans to travel. Sadly, these dreams were never realized as Jack’s wife Rose passed away shortly after they moved to Valdosta and Jack succumbed to numerous illnesses nearly one year later. He will be missed by his son Scott Routsong, adopted son and noted prestigious Sarasota lawyer Jackson Kracht, Daughter-in-law Kerri Routsong and grandchildren Jaxson Routsong, Zachary Routsong, Ashley Young and Joey Young. Knowing what challenges life can present, Jack would encourage his family to always do their best, love and support each other and live their lives to the fullest. Jack would also tell them that they will never be alone and he will watch out for them from the best seat in the house…sitting among family and friends in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. "Daddy, I'm so afraid. There's no guarantee in the plans I've made. And if I should fail, who will pay my way back home? And he said that's my job, that's what I do. Everything I do is because of you to keep you safe with me. That's my job you see."
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite local charity.
