Jack Mester, Sr.

February 16, 1951 — September 1, 2012

Jack Mester, Sr. SSGT-Ret, 61, of Lake Park, died on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Somerville, New Jersey to the late Frank Mester and Mary Theresa Dombrowski Mester. Mr. Mester retired after more than 20 years of service in the United States Air Force where he worked as a Crew Chief. He was an avid sportsman with many interests that included hunting and fishing, cheering on the New Orleans Saints and watching NASCAR races. A member of Jennings Missionary Baptist Church, Mr. Mester was devoted to his church and his Lord. He loved his family and loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Dawn Crosby Mester of Lake Park; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Jennifer Mester, Jr. of Valdosta; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Chris Yeomans of Lake Park and a daughter, Morgan Mester of Lake Park; four grandchildren, Kari and Kelli Mester and Zachary and Nikki Turner; three sisters and two brothers in law, Jeannette & Al Lucarino of Valdosta, Barbara and Norman O'Borne of Del Rio, FL and Mary Woltemate of NJ; a brother, Frank Mester of MI; a sister-in-law and brother in law, Tammy Jo & Jayme Hughes of Marmel, AR; a number of nieces and nephews; and loyal and trusting friends, Chip & Eli. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mason Mester; and a grandson, Kodie Drue Turner.

Services for Jack Mester will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Jennings Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Spence Corbett, Rev. Jim Schappaugh and Rev. Ted Sauls officiating. The burial will follow in the Sassers Landing Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
