J.R. (Jim) Hennly

October 17, 1941 — May 20, 2011

James Rome Hennly, Jr., 69, died Friday, May 20, 2011 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born October 17, 1941 in Cedartown, Georgia to the James R. Sr. and Cleo Wray Hennly. Mr. Hennly was a 1959 graduate of Waycross High School, graduate of Valdosta State College and a graduate of School of Banking. He completed several bank related courses with honors. Mr. Hennly served his country honorable in the United States Air Force. Mr. Hennly worked over 22 years with First National/First Union Bank, 15 years with First Federal Savings and Loan Bank and 3 years with Guardian Bank all of Valdosta. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church having served as Treasurer, on the Board of Trustees, on the Finance Committee, as Usher, in the Beckie Anthony Sunday School Class and on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He has served for over 40 years on the Advisory Committee to the Salvation Army and Treasurer of the Empty Stocking Fund. He has also served on the Mental Health Association, Board of Trustees for South Georgia Regional Library, Red Carpet Committee Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, and the Valdosta Country Club. He held memberships in Pikes Pond Fishing Club, Outback Motorcycle Riders, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Ole Spokes Motorcycle Group and Valdosta Corvette Club.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beulah Exum Hennly; daughters and son in law, Judith Elizabeth and Wayne White of St. Augustine, Fla., Victoria Leigh Hennly of Valdosta, son and daughter in law, James R., III and Toni Hennly of Valdosta, nine grandchildren, John Allen Lawson, Jr., Heather Leigh Toth, Joshua Dale Hennly, Travis Ryan Hennly, Nicholas Tyler Hennly, Haleigh Hope Hennly, D. J. Hennly, Hollee James Hennly all of Valdosta and Benjamin Wayne White of St. Augustine, Fla., one sister, Joan Hennly of Tampa, Fla., sisters in law, Ludie North and Susan Clary Hennly both of Valdosta, brother in law, Eddie Williams of Valdosta and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles (Chuck) Hennly, his sister, Beckie Williams and a niece, Chrissie Williams and two brothers in law, John Exum and Frank Exum.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Moon officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 220 N.
