Henry B. Hughes

Henry B. “Pete” Hughes, 77, of Valdosta, died at his home on Monday, November 29, 2004. Born in Morven, he was the son of the late H.B., Sr. and Gladys Watson Hughes. He was a Navy Veteran and was retired from the City of Valdosta Maintenance Department. Mr. Hughes was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Emily Hughes of Valdosta; brothers and sisters, Bobby and Marion Hughes of Sarasota, Florida, John and Virginia Hughes of Steinhatchee, Florida, Joyce Simpson of Valdosta, Dorothy and Junior Roundtree of Valdosta, Betty Hughes of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews; his caregiver, Inez Hurst, and her children, Leon David Hurst, Danny Hurst, Cathy Spradley, Barbara Crews and grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2004, at 3 p.m. at Corinth Church Cemetery. Reverend Carlton Allen and Dr. Henry Cannington will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home .
