Helen C. Blanton

HELEN C. BLANTON, 86, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Holly Hill Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Washington, D.C. a daughter of the late George and Effie Moore Collins.

Mrs. Blanton was a member of Westside Baptist Church, the Woodmen of the World, and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed fishing, and working in her yard and flower gardens.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-laws, Trudy and Victor Smith of Catawba, SC, and Debbie and James Kelley of Cherry Lake, FL, three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Frank and wife Tammy Blanton of Valdosta, Jerry Blanton and Linda Kight of Valdosta, and Glen and wife Marvine Blanton of Wewahitchka, FL, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special family friends, Sue Jones of Jacksonville, FL, and Josette Courson of Valdosta. She was predeceased by her husband, George Elton Blanton, and a daughter, LaQuita Mae Blanton, two sisters, Eloise Pitney and Mary Smith, and a very special friend, Ernest Harried.

Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 21, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
