Harvey Hulon Luke, 88, of Lake Park, Georgia, died on August 11, 2020 at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville. After years of suffering from Alzheimer’s disease he contracted COVID-19 and ultimately succumbed to its effects. Hulon was born in Lowndes County, Georgia on April 16, 1932 to the late Walter and Ellie Nash Luke. He served in the Navy, defending his country during the Korean War. He was an avid boxing enthusiast and boxed while in the Navy. While stationed in San Diego, California, he met and married Linda Roberts. They made a home in Valdosta where they raised their three children, Tina, Kenny and Ray.
Hulon enjoyed hunting, fishing and never missed attending the kid’s ballgames and events. He was a health-conscious person and opened the first Valdosta health spa. He was also one of the founding members of the Lowndes County Vikings Touchdown Club. Hulon was a barber and had Luke’s Barber Shop in Valdosta for many years before moving the shop to Brown’s pond in Lake Park. He and his wife, Wanda, found great joy in serving their customers at Brown’s pond. Hulon also enjoyed renting boats and giving the latest best tips on fishing.

Alzheimer’s may have taken Hulon’s memories, but it did not take his pleasant and kind personality. Hulon, you will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
A private family burial will be held at New Bethel Church Cemetery with Stanley Luke officiating. The family asks that charitable donations be made in Hulon’s memory to an Alzheimer’s research/support organization of your choice. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
