Gerald (Jerry) Curtis Lewis

June 12, 1953 — August 29, 2019

Gerald (Jerry) Curtis Lewis also known as Bullet, 66, of Clyattville, died of an apparent heart attack at his home on Thursday, August 29, 2019. Jerry was born in Quitman on June 12, 1953 to the late Curtis Franklin Lewis and June Darlington Lewis. Jerry’s first love was his wife Amy. Jerry’s second love was his old cars and his dogs. You had to know Jerry to love him. He was very hard core, rough and tough. He did have a short fuse but would do anything for anybody. If you needed money, he would take a hundred dollar bill out of his pocket and give it to you. At family gatherings he was always willing to buy everyone dinner. He was very caring, very unselfish. He had a big heart but just didn’t want to show it. Jerry and his sister, Wanda, didn’t visit often but when they did you could see the love in both their hearts. Jerry was a member at Clyattville United Methodist Church. As a child he attended regularly, then as an adult he was on shift work at the papermill and became less involved in the church. He had just retired from PCA in Clyattville and was planning to slow down and enjoy life, but our heavenly Father had other plans. Jerry needed to be on those streets of gold with his sweet darling mama and daddy.
Jerry is survived by his wife Amy Lewis, of Valdosta, his sister and brother in law, Wanda Lamon Branam and Darrell Branam, of Valdosta, his father in law and mother in law, Glen and Betty Lowder, of Valdosta, mother in law Lala Deal Lowder, of China Grove, NC, brothers in law and sister in law, Barry Lowder, and Jeff and Lisa Lowder, sister in law and brother in law, Barbara and Dennis Corriher, all of China Grove, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
