GAILE CARTER
(Mary) Gaile Carter of Lake Park died at her residence on Monday, October 19, 2009. She was born on October 15, 1929 to the late Louis H. and Mittie Kuykendall Carter in Paris, TN.
Gaile grew up in Lake Park and attended the local schools. She graduated from G.S.W.C. in Valdosta and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City and continued to live there after graduation.
From 1952 until 1966, Gaile worked in the theatre in the North East and Florida. In 1966, she accepted a position as Publicity and Promotion Director of Judith McCann Designs and Fashion jewelry company. From 1984 until her resignation in 1998 she was Exec.Assistant to the CEO of American Properties, Inc. She returned to Lowndes County to care for her mother during her illness in 2000. She attended the Twin Lakes Presbyterian Church and has served as an active member of the Board for the Lake Park Historical Society.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Robert Al and Valerie Carter of Bonaire; three nieces and their husbands, Melanie & Dr. John Rathbun, Audrey & Joey Jones, both of Savannah, Jennifer & Allan Chanaberry of Atlanta: five nephews and their wives , Robert Alfred Carter, Jr., Farmington, Ky, John Louis & Mary Kay Carter, Jr., Chicago, IL, David Lee & Debbie Carter, of Atlanta, Joshua Bradley & Jennifer Carter, Coleman Louis & Courtney Carter, both of Valdosta; two very special aunts & uncle, Vivian Kuykendall Dupree, Americus, Kathryn Kuykendall & Jim Clark, Panama City, FL; numerous great nieces & nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother and his wife, John Louis and Joy Kennedy Carter of Homerville.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Twin Lakes Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Akers and Dr. A. H. "Skip" VanNus officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, PO Box 1727, Valdosta, GA 31603 or to your favorite charity.
