Franklin Creasy

December 23, 1930 — February 14, 2009

Franklin Creasy, 78, of Valdosta died Saturday, February 14, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on December 23, 1930 in Franklin County, Tennessee to the late James Thomas and Sophrina Warhurst Creasy and lived in the Nevils Community of Bulloch County. He graduated from Georgia Teachers College in 1953 and the University of Georgia in 1955. He attended the American University in Washington, DC and Florida State University. Mr. Creasy taught science in Thomson, GA and Quitman, GA before moving to Valdosta in 1958. He was a professional photographer, well driller and enjoyed family, fishing and growing blueberries. Mr. Creasy was a member of the Bemiss United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Genevieve Creasy of Valdosta, five sons and three daughters in law, Stanley and Tyra Creasy, Wendell F. (Bubba) Creasy, Terry and Amy Creasy all of Valdosta, Ray Creasy of Hahira, Joey and Patricia Creasy of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Jennifer and Jimmy Salmela of Hahira, grandchildren, Alan Creasy, Jeremy Creasy, Tristen (Matt) Rentfrow, Brandon Creasy, Jason Creasy, Matt Creasy, Ashley (Matt) Folsom, Kylee Creasy and Ray Creasy, Jr. all of Valdosta, great grandchild, Haley Creasy, brother and sister in law, Robert and Glenda Creasy of Loganville. He was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 4pm, Wednesday at the Homeward Cemetery in Camden County. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
