Frank Harrison Cooper

Frank Harrison Cooper, 81, passed away on Tuesday March 9, 2021 at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville. He was born on February 25, 1940 in Morven, GA to the late Jack Ernest and Cecelia Shiver Cooper and was a lifelong resident of the Valdosta, GA area. Mr. Cooper was a faithful member of Central Avenue Church of Christ and owned and operated WVLD and FM 96 radio stations for many years. He was affectionately known by his employees as “The Big Guy” or “Mr. C.” As hobbies, Mr. Cooper loved spending time outdoors, often at the Spain Ferry Hunting Club, and riding his tractor at his farm.
Mr. Cooper is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Scruggs Cooper of Valdosta, GA; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Bob Minick of Valdosta, GA and Stephanie and Scott Braswell of Collierville, TN; his four grandsons whom he referred to as “his boys,” Travis Braswell of Collierville, TN, Austin Braswell of Madison, WI, Connor Ellis of Winter Park, FL, and Colby Ellis of Tampa, FL; his three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry Cooper of Hahira, GA; Billy and Lydia Cooper of Rome, GA; Randy and Scarlet Cooper of Valdosta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He leaves behind a multitude of friends who will miss him as well.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 AM Saturday March 13, 2021 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with John Klimko and Bryan Jarvis officiating. The family will receive friends following the funeral service. A private burial will follow at Campground Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Bridges of Hope, Attn: Chad Burtz, 10031 Coffee Road, Morven, GA 31638.
