Frances Crosby Shaw

October 25, 1919 — February 6, 2009

Frances Crosby Shaw, 89, lifelong resident of Valdosta, died at Langdale Hospice House on Friday, February 6, 2009, after a short illness. Born in Valdosta on October 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late A.D. Sr., and Clifford Rudd Crosby. As a homemaker, Frances loved her family and her Lord and she loved "cooking for her boys". A genuine Christian and friend, Frances was a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church. She loved her church, her Sunday School class and the Young at Heart Seniors Group. Many years ago she worked for the Strickland Cotton Mill in Remerton and also for Big Star Grocery Stores.

Survivors are her sons and daughters in law, James and Phyllis Shaw, Winston and Sylvia Shaw, Cleveland and Gail Shaw all of Valdosta; daughter and son in law, Gwenette and Harry Farmer of Valdosta; grandchildren, Trevor (Stacy) Shaw of Valdosta, Derek (Amy) Shaw of Hahira; Kareen (Dave) Massey of Waverly, Nathan (Shelly) Shaw of Valdosta; Aaron (Tracy) Shaw of Valdosta, Clay (Gwin) Shaw of Valdosta, Josh (Callie) Shaw of Valdosta, Kenyon (Jodi) Farmer of Hahira, Tammie Moore of Hahira; brother and sister in law, Joseph and Laverne Crosby of Valdosta, sister, Louelle Rhoden of Valdosta, sister in law, Eugenia Crosby of Valdosta; brother in law, Eugene Rollins of Atlanta; eighteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott R. Shaw, young son, David Leon Shaw, brothers, James Crosby, Tete Crosby, A.D. Crosby, Jr., sisters, Ruth Kearce, Vera Royal, Margaret Townsend, Sara Rollins.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Wayne Robertson will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia or Langdale Hospice House.
