Frances Bagley

Mrs. Frances Wanez Cowart Deloach Bagley, 96, passed away at Holly Hill Nursing Home on Friday, January 10, 2020. Mrs. Bagley was born on March 22, 1923 in Remerton. She was the sixth and last surviving child born to Allan and Anna Johnson Cowart of Remerton.
Mrs. Bagley overcame many obstacles in her long life with dignity, grace, tenacity and perseverance. She was a true southern lady with rare qualities of honesty and integrity.
Frances Cowart was graduated from Valdosta High School in 1941 lettering all four years in basketball. She also was a 1981 graduate of Valdosta State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. She loved studying history, reading, travel and her friends. She had a deep and abiding love for her country.
Fran retired as a caseworker with the Department of Family and Children’s Services in 1985. She was formerly employed as Pineview General Hospital and Strickland Cotton Mill and was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Remerton.
Mrs. Bagley is preceded in death by her parents, Allan and Anna Johnson Cowart, one sister, Estelle Deloach, four brothers, Lester, Wilbur, Wilton, and Odell Cowart all of Remerton. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. DeLoach, lost in France in 1944.
Survivors are her daughter, Carol Ann Bagley, of Valdosta, her son, James Robert Bagley of Tallahassee, Florida, two grandchildren, and four great grandchildren; very special friends, Mary Williams and James and Sheila Mullis, also a special niece, Sheila Hingson.
Services will be held at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Monday, January 13, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Reverend Stanley Luke will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Wayfare Primitive Baptist Church in Echols County in the Cowart family lot.
