Ernestine P. Kirkland

Ernestine P. Kirkland, 79, of Lake Park, died on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 5, 1940 in Barney, Georgia to the late Charles and Ella Lee Omens Passmore and has been a resident of this area most her life. She was retired from Crackin’ Good Bakery and was of the Methodist faith. She enjoyed working in her yard when her health permitted, traveling to the mountains, and fishing. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved spending time with family and friends. She cherished special moments from friends who would drop by for a visit as it always brightened her day. She leaves behind a rich legacy for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Debera Lee Childs of Clyattville, Tammy Marie Daffin of Lake Park, and Shirley “Diane” and John DeMaranville of Valdosta; her grandchildren and their spouses, Randy and Scotty Williams, Andy and Chandra Childs, Tony Childs, Michael and Crystal DeMaranville, Cindi Williams, Matthew and Amy DeMaranville, Crystal Rogers, Stacey and Chris Downing, Justin Nichols, Sadie and Alex Kurtz, and Brandi and Jimmy Cologne; 27 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Chris Williams; six brothers, Irvin Passmore, Jesse Passmore, Herbert Passmore, Wallace Passmore, Rueben Passmore, and her twin brother, Chucky Passmore; two sisters, Ollie Mae Passmore, and Viola Kennedy; a son-in-law, Ray Childs and her ex-husband, Charles Kirkland.
Services for Ernestine P. Kirkland will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in the chapel of the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home with Mr. Michael DeMaranville officiating. The burial will follow in the Lake Park Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
