Emmitt Paul (E.P. Buck) Cowart, Jr. 93, of Valdosta died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on May 13, 1915 in Emanuel County Georgia to the late Emmitt Paul, Sr. and Alley Waller Cowart and was retired from the city of Valdosta. He was a WWII veteran having served with the Army Air Corps and was a member of Grace Community Church. Mr. Cowart was a past president of the American Legion Post No. 13 and was also a member of the 40 and 8th.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Susan Cowart; a granddaughter, Alexandria McRae and a grandson Ira Thomas Cowart all of Valdosta; a brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Francis Cowart of Vidalia and a sister Louise Wren of Palatka Florida; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Pastor Vernon Eckleberry officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
