Emma Katherine (Kathy) Crosby

Emma Katherine (Kathy) Crosby, 55 of Echols County, died on Monday, February 4, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center following a short illness. Born in Cairo to the late Dan S. & Bertha Mae Crosby, she was a lifelong resident of this area. Kathy was devoted to her family and was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend. She loved sewing, crafts, baking with grandkids and working with her flowers. She attended Antioch Community Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Jerry & Melissa Pittman; a daughter and son in law, Dana & Derek Herring and a son, Brian Pittman, all of Echols County; the father of her children and special friend, Jerry Pittman, Sr. of Clyattville; ten grandchildren, Hannah Pittman, Kyle Herring, Cassie Herring, Lindsey Herring, all of Echols County, James Pittman, Porshe Pittman, both of Lakeland, Anthony Pittman, of Jennings, FL, Kelsey Pittman of McAlpin, FL, and Casen Pittman of Echols County. Also surviving are five sisters, Ann (Calvin) Trice, Faye (Steve) Sali, Christine Beaty, Mary Crosby, all of Echols County and Danyette (Steve) Deacon of Valdosta; three brothers, Walter (Peggy) Crosby, Dan (Aline) Crosby and Wilson (Dona)Crosby, all Echols County; a lifelong friend Iva Porter of Lake Park and numerous nieces, nephews & friends. She is preceded in death by a brother, Joe Crosby.
A funeral service for Mrs. Crosby will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church in Echols County. Rev. Mickey Corbett and Rev. Greg Lee will officiate. Burial will follow at Wrights Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home in Lake Park.
