Emily Lee Hughes

Emily Lee Hughes, 81, of Valdosta, died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born in Lowndes County on April 9, 1928 to the late Barney Mark and Hattie Mizell Deloach Seymour. Mrs. Hughes was a retired machine operator from Levi Strauss Company and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Mable Atkins of Valdosta, friends, Leon David Hurst of Moultrie, Danny Hurst of Flint, MI, Barbara Crews and Cathy Spradley of Valdosta, caregiver, Inez Hurst of Valdosta and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hughes is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bracy “Pete” Hughes.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at three p. m. at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Henry Cannington officiating. Burial will follow.
