Elmer Parker

Elmer Parker, 77, of Valdosta died Monday, May 18, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Brooks County on November 9, 1931 to the late Joe and Cora Guess Parker and had lived in Lowndes County all of his life. Mr. Parker was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed raising cows for his son and grandchildren to show and was active in the Cattelmans Association. Mr. Parker was involved in the 4-H Club, FFA and enjoyed baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Parker of Valdosta, his children and their spouses, Lynn and Roger Christie of Hahira, Mike and Kristy Parker of Valdosta, Eric and Paulette Pittman of Sparks and Cindy Pittman of Valdosta, grandchildren, Lindsey Wilbers, Travis Wingate, Blake and Greg Bright, Joshua Parker, Beau Pittman, Skyler Pittman, Drew Young and Amber Young, his great grandchildren, Bracken Wilbers and Madison Young, former son in law, Walter Wingate of Valdosta, sisters and brothers in law, Inez Steedley, Evelyn Caldwell, Ruth Bush, Kathleen and Frank Culpepper all of Valdosta, brothers and sisters in law, Jake and Dorothy Parker of Valdosta, James and Sylvia Parker of Hahira, brother in law, Clarence DeLoach of Valdosta and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florene DeLoach.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Central Avenue Church of Christ with Mr. Bryan Jarvis and Mr. Walter Wingate officiating. Burial will follow in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
