Elizabeth Shaw Rogers

March 5, 1942 — October 4, 2020

Elizabeth Gayle Shaw Rogers, 79, of Dunn, NC passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Wayne UNC Hospital in Goldsboro, NC. She was born on March 5, 1942 in Columbus, GA to the late William Marion Shaw and Sarah Elizabeth Shelnutt Shaw. Ms. Rogers attended Jordan High School in Columbus and graduated from Valdosta State College where she received a BA and Masters degree in English. She began a doctoral program at UGA. Ms. Rogers taught at Valdosta High School, Hahira Middle School, Jimmy Swaggart Family Christian Academy High School in Baton Rouge, LA and also assistant professor of English at the Bible College there. She became a licensed minister in the mid-south conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. She moved to NC in 1991 and joined the North Carolina Conference where she became an ordained minister and missionary and then moved to Johannesburg, South Africa and taught at the World Harvest Theological College in 1993. Ms. Rogers was director of the Advance Pastoral Training Program for all of Africa and Director of the World Intercession Network Program for Africa. She finished her missionary work as the Director of the Guthrie Bible Training Center in Blantyre, Malawi from 2000-2008 when she retired and returned to NC.
She is survived by her son and daughter in law, William and Paula Rogers of Hahira, granddaughter, Brittnee Rogers of Alabama, grandson and fiancé, Gage Rogers and Taylor Hernandez of Louisiana, great granddaughter, Olivia Elizabeth Rogers, sisters, Jeanne Frith of Tampa, FL and Billye Greene of Atlanta.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 at one p. m. at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Frank Gupton officiating. Burial will follow. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com. Please abide by CDC guidelines, wear a mask and observe social distancing at the service.
