Edsel Ford (Ed) Griffin, 91, of Barney died Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center in Moultrie. He was born in Norman Park, Georgia on December 29, 1925 to the late Joshua L. and Lillie Smith Griffin and had lived in Barney for many years. Mr. Griffin was a member of the Hahira First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. He played semi pro ball with the New York Yankees before returning home to farm. He loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs play football. Mr. Griffin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his daughter and son law, Stephanie (Sissy) and Buddy Murray of Barney; daughter in law, Jane Griffin of Carrollton, GA; six grandchildren,Davy and Rachel Murray of Valdosta, Catrina Murray of Raleigh, NC, Megan and Chris Moulthrop of Silverdale, WA, Nikki and Brad Purvis of Carrollton, GA, Erin and Matt Georgia of Trussville, AL, Michael Griffin of Atlanta; nine great grandchildren, Cameron Moulthrop, Hunter Moulthrop, Makenna Moulthrop, Savannah Murray, Shelby Murray, Rachel Purvis, Zachary Purvis, Julia Georgia, Anna Georgia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Brady Griffin; two sons, Monty Griffin and Mike Griffin; great grandchild, Jay Griffin and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the Hahira First Baptist Church with Rev. David Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Campground Cemetery in Morven.
