Edna Whigham

February 9, 1941 — January 21, 2023

Edna Whigham, 81, of Lake Park, died at her home on Saturday, January 21, 2023 following a brief illness. Born in Madison, Florida, on February 9, 1941, Edna was the daughter of the late Charles Fitch Sims and Lois Sibbie Sims. She grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison High School and attended University of Florida to become a Physical Therapist. She began her physical therapy career in Thomasville in the mid 1970’s and moved to Valdosta in the early 1980’s. Edna worked for decades helping folks in facilities all-over South-Central Georgia with their physical therapy needs. She retired in 2018 after nearly 40 years. Edna loved collecting antiques and making her yard beautiful. She was a member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church.

Survivors are her son Mahon Matheny of Lake Park, daughter, Jerry Ann Matheny of Tallahassee, Florida, brothers, Lint (Shelba) Sims of Alabama and Phillip (Kay) Sims of California; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Phillip Whigham and a daughter, Vivian Lee Baggs.

Edna will be cremated, and her cremains will be interred at Shady Grove Cemetery in Pinetta at a later time. McLane Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family of Mrs. Whigham. www.mclanecares.com
