Edith Barrett Crump

Edith Barrett Crump, 83, of Valdosta died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at her home. She was born on August 7, 1927 in Irwin County to the late Perry O. and Lucy Lupo Barrett and had lived in Brooks County for many years. Mrs. Crump was a member of the Charity Baptist Church and a retired registered nurse at South Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Crump was very young at heart and enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was very involved in the lives of her family and the work of her church.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters in law, James Allen, Sr. and Vicki Crump of Valdosta, Phillip Lee and Janna Crump of Jacksonville, Fla., grandchildren, James Allen (Len) Crump, Jr., Michael (Melissa) Crump, Tommy Crump, Ben (Jessica) Crump, Paul Crump, Bree Crump, Beth (Brian) Payne and Ann Stalvey, great grandchildren, Destiny Crump, Grant Crump, Mickie Crump, Charity Crump and Ethan Crump, two brothers and sisters in law, Perry O., Jr. and Suzie Barrett, Alton and Shirley Barrett all of Waycross and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Harrison Crump, two sons, Thomas Harrison Crump, Jr., and Edward Crump, and a sister and brother in law, Mildred and Homer Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Charity Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Crump, Dr. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Lee Graham officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3pm on Saturday at Stubbs Cemetery in Abbeville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
