Edgar O. Roberson

Edgar O. “Robbie” Roberson, 85, of Valdosta died on Sunday, November 26, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born on November 25, 1921 in Tift County to the late Adrian NeSmith Roberson and Oliver J. Roberson he had lived in this area most of his life. He had served with the U.S. Navy through numerous invasions during World War II. Mr. Roberson was an electrician and had retired from Owens Illinois Bag Plant. He was a member of West End Presbyterian Church and a longtime member of the American Legion.


Survivors are his daughter and son in law, Denise Lynn Exum and husband, Robby Exum of Valdosta; son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Devonne Taylor of Statenville; two sisters and one brother in law, Betty Anderson of Valdosta, Martha and George Morrow of Crestview, Florida; one sister in law, Mary Sue Roberson of Orlando, Florida; six brothers and sisters in law, Melvin Roberson, Leon (Pete) and Wilma Roberson, Donald and Lawanna Roberson, Clyde and Jeanette Roberson, Fred and Donna Roberson, Cecil and Susan Roberson all of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Kayla Exum, Jacalyn Exum and Cole Exum of Valdosta, Jessica and Justin Taylor of Statenville; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Waller Roberson, his second wife, Ruth Stevens Roberson, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Roberson Sr., and one brother, Oliver J. Roberson, Jr. of Orlando, Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend John Akers will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
