Earl Jackson "Sonny" Cothron, Jr.

June 6, 1942 — July 28, 2020

Earl Jackson “Sonny” Cothron, Jr., 78, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his daughter’s residence in Lake Park. He was born in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Earl Sr., and Nell Shiver Cothron. He retired from PCA in Clyattville after 55 years of dedicated service and was a member of Redland Baptist Church. He loved quail hunting, fishing and raising bird dogs.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Jimmy Noles of Lake Park and Alisha and Paul McDonald of Clyattville; his granddaughter, Joley Herring; his grandson and his wife, Dusty and Katelyn Noles; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mitchell and Karen Cothron, and Wayne Cothron all of Valdosta; his 4-legged friend, Lily; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Cothron.
Service for Earl Jackson “Sonny” Cothron, Jr. will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Redland Baptist Church with Bro. Jimmy Noles officiating. The burial will follow in the Redland Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Please note that social distancing will be observed for the service and that the wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Redland Baptist Church.
