Earl Eugene Folsom

November 12, 1932 — December 13, 2009

Earl Eugene "Gene" Folsom, 77, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, December 13, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Born in Valdosta on November 12, 1932, he was the son of the late William S. and Elizabeth Simpson Folsom. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Folsom was the retired owner of Oak Ridge Village Mobile Home Park and he was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Rosalind Sirmans Folsom of Valdosta; daughter and son in law, Jan Folsom and Gene Herring of Lake Park, son and daughter in law, Earl E., Jr. and Debbie Folsom of Thomasville, brother and sister in law, S. G. and Leta Mae Folsom of Brooks County; brothers in law and sisters in law, Lacey and JoAnn Connell of Valdosta, Jim and Jane Sirmans of Cumming, Georgia; grandchildren, Ashlei, Kacey and Jordan Herring, Landrie Folsom; nieces and nephews, Billy Folsom, S.G. Folsom, Jr., Kenny Folsom, Karen Pennington, Eric Connell, Carl Connell, Dolores Harmeyer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lynette Connell.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Bob Willis, Reverend Robert Dawson, and Dr. Wayne Roberston will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
