Durwood Lewis

Durwood Lewis of Valdosta, GA, passed away on January 3, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on October 4, 1928 in Bonita Springs, FL, to the late Ramer Lewis and Martha Norton Lewis. He grew up in Morven, GA but lived in Valdosta most of his life. Mr. Lewis was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a World War II veteran serving with the 11th Airborne in Japan. He retired from Baker Distributing Company.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife of 71 years Betty Roberts Lewis; a daughter Janet Lewis Stump, of Winter Haven, FL; a son Steve Lewis, of Ormond Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Stephanie Lewis of Atlanta, GA, Jennifer Stump Rutland and her husband Andrew, of Lake Park, GA, and Abigail Lewis, of Ormond Beach, FL; two great grandsons, John Rutland and Charlie Rutland of Lake Park, GA. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
A private graveside service for Mr. Lewis will be held at a later date at Campground Cemetery, in Morven, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 100 E.
