Dr. Beverly Tucker

Dr. Beverly Tucker, 70, of Lake Park died Friday, December 15, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Beverly was born in Miami, FL to the late Marie & Karl Stoup on December 5, 1936. She attended school in Daytona Beach, FL and received her B.A and her M.A from the University of Florida, and went on to earn her Ph. D from Florida State University in March of 1977. Beverly was retired from Valdosta State University where she was a professor of Early Childhood Education. She also taught in Titusville, FL; Gainesville, FL; Chesapeake, OH; West Virginia State College and Austin Peay State University

She leaves to mourn her passing her loving spouse, Dr. Glenn G. Tucker of Lake Park; her daughter Elizabeth Jeanne “B.J.” Prince; a son and daughter in law, Robert H. & Sandi Woodward of Valdosta; two stepsons, David R. Tucker of Dayton, OH and Dr. Bruce N. & Margi Tucker of Gainesville, FL; six grandchildren, Ben Prince, Chris and Phil Tucker, Jenni Cox, Trey and Larren Woodward. Also grieving at her passing are two sisters, Patricia Graff of Tallahassee, FL and Sister Elizabeth Marie Stoup, S.S.J. of Orlando, FL; two nieces, Dr. JoAnn Graf and Jeanne Graf and a nephew, Raymond Graf. She was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Stoup. Beverly will be loved and missed by countless former students and fellow professors.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at the Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Pearlman Cancer Center, 2501 N Patterson St, Valdosta, GA 31602.
