Dorothy Lavel Rykard

Dorothy Lavel Rykard, 70, of Valdosta, died Monday, September 8, 2008 at Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born on January 20, 1938 in Valdosta to the late Edgar H. and Grace B. Rykard. Miss Rykard was a retired civil service employee administrative assistant from Moody Air Force Base and attended Greenwood Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Lillie R. Woods of Valdosta, two nieces, Julie Burnette of Stuart, FL, Teresa and Neal Murphy, one great nephew, Zachary Murphy all of Patterson, GA, aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Lou Salter of North Carolina, uncle and aunt, Jimmy and Ann Rykard of DeRidda, LA, aunt and uncle, Rachael and Melvin Gill of Live Oak, FL, aunt, Dorothy Peters of Clyattville and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held from four until six p. m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. No funeral services will be held. Please make all contributions to United Hospice.
