Dorothy Jean Mathis Rowland

Dorothy Jean Mathis Rowland, 81, of Valdosta died Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born in Berrien County, Georgia on February 16, 1939 to the late Roy and Rebecca Flanders Mathis and had lived in Valdosta for many years. Mrs. Rowland was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a retired bookkeeper with LARC. She enjoyed family and church, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking and sewing.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, David J. Rowland of Valdosta; her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Julie Rowland of Hahira; her daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Jonathan Jense of Thomasville; her grandchildren, Anna Jense, Abigail Jense, Maisie Rowland, Levi Rowland; her brother and sister-in-law, Sonny and Joyce Mathis of Enigma; her sister and brother-in-law, Eloise and Lewis Kelly of Screven. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Donald Mathis and Paul Mathis.
Graveside services will be held at 11am, Monday, January 18, 2021 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens with Dr. Gary Woods officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to Langdale Hospice House, 2263 Pineview Drive, Valdosta, GA 31602.
