Dorothy Aligood

Dorothy Aligood, 83, of Lawrenceville, formerly of Valdosta, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at Del Mar Gardens, Lawrenceville.

She was born May 6, 1930 in Monticello, FL, a daughter of the late Willie and Gertrude Wood Thigpen. Mrs. Aligood was member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Thomas Aligood, Jr. of Lawrenceville; one daughter, Ann Aligood of Valdosta; one grandson, Michael Thomason of Valdosta; two brothers, Willie Thigpen of Lloyd, FL, and Julius Thigpen of Woodville, FL; one sister, Elsie Cason of Douglasville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas M. Aligood; three sisters, Helen Willaford, Edna Kelley and Grace James; and one brother, Herbert Thigpen.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Aligood will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at the Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, with Rev. Troy Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Mausoleum Chapel prior to the funeral service.
